Handle a get operation on the configuration channel.

Parameters

transport	Pointer to the configuration channel transport instance.
buffer	Pointer to the buffer to be filled when handling the get request.
length	Length of the data to be filled.

Returns

0 if the operation was successful. Otherwise, a (negative) error code is returned.
