Wireless technologies
The nRF Door Lock and Access Control applications combine multiple wireless technologies to deliver a complete door lock and access control reference. Pages in this section describe each technology used across the nRF Door Lock and Access Control Add-on and how it integrates with the rest of the application.
The following wireless technologies are supported:
Aliro — Standardized access protocol for the phone-as-a-key user experience.
Near Field Communication (NFC) — Short-range communication for tap-to-unlock access.
Matter — Universal smart home protocol for command-and-control and credential provisioning.
Bluetooth LE — General-purpose Bluetooth LE services (SMP, NUS) that can operate independently of Aliro and Matter.
Ultra-wideband (UWB) — Proximity-based access with the hands-free unlock.
